Patients
Services offered
The Valais Hospital and institutes offer extensive medical care of excellent quality. We offer individual medical services, which are optimally adapted to the needs of patients and thus achieve an excellent level of effectiveness in terms of quality.
The creation of suprasite medical departments, the resulting increase in the critical mass and the opportunity for attending physicians to specialise improves the quality of medical treatment in the hospitals.
The patient must be considered as a whole in order to improve his physical, psychological and social well-being. Valais Hospital has now made this process feasible by encouraging interdisciplinary synergies. Furthermore, it ensures individual and personalised care of the patient by providing quality care, guaranteeing safety and protecting the integrity of the person by respecting his values.
Quality of care
In a hospital, quality management extends over all the sites and affects all the sectors (care, administration, catering, services, suppliers, etc.) Considering the size and complexity of Valais Hospital, a coordinated approach is essential. The aim of implementing quality procedures on a cantonal level is not to impose a “label” effect but rather to get the teams to adapt to a considerable cultural change in the method of management and care. As well as the personal involvement of the doctors and other carers, who, on an everyday basis, are particularly concerned about the quality of their services, several actions have been undertaken for several years now in Valais Hospital to ensure quality of care and the safety of patients. We can list, amongst others:
- Organisational methods aimed at the continuous improvement of processes: Declaration of adverse events, management of infectious risks, documentation and certifications, computerised patient records, centralised dispensing of medicines
- Systematic monitoring of various parameters indicative of quality: Patient satisfaction surveys, other specific indicators from a medical point of view such as quality indicators including various parameters relating to potentially preventable readmissions or the use of antibiotics, indicators for nursing care
As well as pursuing its goals, Valais Hospital also takes the environment into consideration by looking for low-energy solutions, controlling water consumption and by raising awareness among its staff with regard to waste management. Concerning the promotion of health, Valais Hospital is an active member of the Swiss Network of Health Promoting Hospitals, a network of WHO.
